A few years ago, a friend recommended to me a book by a Korean philosopher that begins with a shocking sentence: “Freedom has been an episode”. As if this were not eloquent enough, the author then clarifies: “episode means ‘intermission'”. “Freedom has been an episode”, thus, a cold and sharp past tense. Is it true?
We are living in turbulent and, in many respects, dark times, as we are suffering from a dangerous drift that is strangling our freedom, tightening the noose little by little, suffocating us more and more….
